Nasha Hee Nasha Hai – Sukhwinder Singh

It's one of the best songs of Sukhwinder. I just love it.

But there's too much pain & yeah if it happens to be true love, then the person is doomed forever.

Chal Chal Meray Sang -Astitva

Very deep, meaningful song! Moreover, Sukhwinder has sung it beautifully. Before I talk about the song, I want to say a little bit about the movie Astitva. This movie revolves around male chauvinism, spousal abuse & extra-marital affairs. It's okay for a man to have an affair any time but if his wife slept with someone almost 25 years, he insulted her right in front of his friends & their son by forcing her to narrate the story. She was of course lonely & frustrated when she slept with the music teacher. You could see the expressions on her face. She was starved as her husband never bothered about her feelings & this music teacher was a gentleman. Anyhow, he left behind everything for Tabu & that's how Tabu's husband starts going through his dairies & it occurs to him that he wasn't around when his wife got pregnant. This movie is also about a woman trying to find a separate identity outside her marriage.

I think Tabu has given better expressions than genuinely starved people. As I said in one of my posts last night: what if no one wants to sleep with you? That is a problem. She was a married woman...in spite of that, she faced the same frustration that no one was keen on her or no one desired her. What happens between the music teacher & her was inevitable.

Anyway, I'm crazy after this song.

What a beautiful thing to say: 'Meray dil ki dharkan mein tu lamha lamha har pal!' & 'Hai teray bin sab kuch tanha tanha har pal!'

And even these lines are so beautiful: 'Ae meri haseen ghazal, maheka meheka tera anchal.'

I loved it how he says 'Meri jaan-e-ghazal.'

Chal Chal - Astitva (2000)

Chal Chal Mere Sang is a wonderful song by Sukhwinder Singh from the movie Astitva. Sukhwinder has sung this song beautifully with a lot of intensity and depth leave alone the lyrics are quite apt for the situation in the movie.

Secondly, I believe Tabu and the guy (I don't know his name but he is Nutan's son) gave such brilliant expressions in this song that it is hard to ignore.

Astitva was a movie of substance (for a niche market of course)...a story about an unhappy couple who do not admit that they are leading unhappy lives where the husband is unfaithful throughout his life and the wife is all submissive. This song is about that one moment where the wife gets attracted to another man and how it all comes back to haunt her much later in her life.

I loved this movie...will not recommend it to everyone but people who like serious cinema will love it too.
