Kya Mujhay Pyar Hai – Wo Lamhe

I love this song. It's so much fun. KK too has a good voice.

I'm sure everyone knows that Woh Lamhe which was released in 2006 was based on the life of Parveen Babi. It's about her affair with Mahesh Bhatt & how she battles with her illness. She was schizophrenic.

Both Shiney Ahuja & Kangana have done justice. And I really like Shaad Randhawa. I saw this extremely hilarious horror film, cause he was a policeman in it.

I think the feeling of being love is so much fun. But when you express yourself, everything goes in the gutter. People are so boring & heartless. It's saddening that even that specific person also turns out to be just another corpse among all the assembled corpses with their eyes open. Anyway, I love these lines:
'Kyun aajkal neend kam khwaab zyada hai
Lagta khuda ka koi nek iraada hai.'

This is so sweet: 'Soye thay khwaab meray jaage tere wasste
Tere khayalon se hai bheege mere raaste.'

And these lines are too cute:
'Tum kyun chale aate ho
Har roz in khwaabon mein
Chupke se aa bhi jaao
Eik din meri bahon mein
Tere hee sapne andheron mein ujaloon mein.'

Jidhar Dekhoon Teri Tasveer Nazar Aati Hai – Mahaan

Simply beautiful! Kishore Kumar has sung it with so much passion & Amitabh was a very loving & caring husband. The music is done by R. D. Burman. Mahaan was actually a remake of Kannada movie named Shankar Guru. Anyway, it was released in 1983 & Amitabh had triple role.

Again it's kind of difficult to choose the best lines. It's sweet when he says, 'Mera hai jo sab hai tera, ab kya mera hai. Meri khushiyon ki tu jagir nazar aati hai.' We live in such a materialistic world that the idea itself is sacred.

'Mar kay juda na ho, teri chahat wahi zanjeer nazar aati hai.' I'm speechless. It must be a fucking great feeling.

Rousseau is so right when he said man is born free but everywhere he is in chains but those chains are damn suffocating.

And this is what we call beautiful poetry: 'Jidhar dekhoon teri tasveer nazar aati hai, teri surat meri taqdeer nazar aati hai.' Superb! And Kishore Kumar has added life to this song.

Mohabbat Baray Kaam Ki Cheez Hai – Trishul

A very, very cool track! And Hema Malini looks really very beautiful in this movie. And you all know how much I adore Shashi Kapoor...whatever I'd say, it won't be enough to express my love for this good-looking, cute man.

Trishul was another blockbuster & it was released in 1978. It had a huge cast & the story line was excellent. The music was also excellent. No wonder it did so well at the box office. It was also directed by Yash Chopra.

I don't know why but I've always been fascinated by the lines of Amitabh:

'Kitabon mein chhapate hain chaahat kay kissay
Haqikat ki duniya mein chaahat nahin hai
Zamane kay bazaar mein yeh woh shay hai
Kay jis ki kisi ko zarurat nahin hai
Yeh bekaar bedaam ki cheez hai.'

Indeed 'Ye bas naam hee naam ki cheez' for some people.

But I also like it when Shashi Kapoor says: 'Daavat-e-ishq dey rahi hai fazaa, aaj ho ja kisi hasin pay fida!' Par husn ki tou itni kami hai kay I don't think it's possible. Perhaps what Amitabh said has more weight. Only when I think about my pets & stray animals I'm friends with, I can say mohabbat baray kaam ki cheez hai!

Sanam Tum Jahan Mera Dil Wahan- Kaalia

Actually I really liked this song in my childhood & I wouldn't lie even to this day, I kind of like it.

I have always been fascinated by the dance moves of Amitabh. I think this is the first song of Parveen Babi that I'm posting.

She was a very sexy, beautiful woman. We do miss her a lot. She was indeed a gem. I don't think India has produced anyone like her. She was the best.

I think almost everyone I know has seen Kaalia & they love it. It was released in 1981. It was written & directed by Tinnu Anand. No wonder it was a super hit. Everyone did a good job.

Keh Doon Tumhe Ya Chup Rahon – Deewar

Oh my God, this is such a cute, fun song! And Shashi Kapoor looks really cute in this red shirt.

Deewar was released in the most beautiful year ever...it was 1975. It received the Filmfare best movie award besides grabbing six other awards. It was a super duper hit & it's still regarded as one of the must see Bollywood films. It was directed by Yash Chopra.

But it really hurts when Amitabh dies & it's difficult to forget the dialogue of Shashi Kapoor: 'Meray pass maa hai!' Shashi Kapoor's dialogue delivery is brilliant. In fact he looks so cute while suggesting all the cheap things in this song which has been sung by Asha Bhosle & Kishore Kumar. I've noticed Asha's voice doesn't disappear in front of anyone.

Dil mein tou har roz kuch alag hee hota hai. It's better to say it rather than regret it later on. You may not feel that way again. Who knows! Of course my favorite stanza is the main one...it's a million dollar tip:
'Keh doon tumhe ya chup rahon dil mein aaj kya hai,
Jo bolo tou jano, guru tum ko mano, chalo yeh bhi wada hai.'

Woh Beete Din Yaad Hain - Purana Mandir

Those of you who have seen Purana Mandir would love this song. I heard it last night & it still sounds great.

Btw, Purana Mandir was one of the first horror movies & it was released in 1984. And yeah it was directed by none other than the Ramsay brothers. It was a big hit. The story revolved around Samri :P

The singer is Ajit Singh. It's a very romantic track.

I think it's the oldest story: 'Aag laga kay tum na jane kahan kho gaye, bas yaadein baaki.'

I believe you should worship the guy that remembers everything you've ever said...I've never met one of the sort.

Zindagi Eik Safar Hai Suhana – Andaz

I love this song, because it's full of life. We should always bear in mind 'yahan kal kya ho kis nay jana' & make life easier for ourselves & others. One cannot even be sure what happens a minute later.

This particular film Andaz was released in 1971. It was quite successful. Although Rajesh Khanna was in the movie just for few minutes but people loved him. Moreover, this was the last hit of Shammi Kapoor as a lead hero. He was awesome. I think anyone can fall for his character.

Zindagi Eik Safar Hai Suhana was one of the most popular songs of its time. Kishore Kumar even got nomination for Filmfare best playback singer award for it. And unfortunately, it also turned out to be the last song that Jaikishan recorded before his death.

I didn't like Hema Malini in my childhood for obvious reason. There were Zeenat Aman & Parveen Babi. It wasn't possible to admire Hema Malini but later on I realized that she was a beauty. Even today she looks very graceful.

Basically I like the lines:
'Zindagi eik safar hai suhana,
Yahan kal kya ho kis nay jana.'

But other than, I also like when he says:
'Chand taaron say chalna hai aage
Asmanon say barna hai aage.'

As I have been able to understand it, you've got to do the things that may take you ahead & you shouldn't give a damn as to what others might say. They only say things when you're a success.

Although I don't believe in rules of any kind whatsoever but if one wants to stay happy, he must follow this:
'Hastay gatay jahan say guzar
Duniya ki tu parwa na kar.'

Eik Rasta Hai Zindagi Jo Tham Gaye Tou Kuch Nahin – Kala Patthar

I'm madly in love with this song. It has been sung by Kishore Kumar & Lata.

Well Kala Patthar was released in 1979. It has been inspired by Chasnala mine disaster but the main plot is very similar to that of the novel Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad. But I can assure you the movie is not at all boring & a drag like Lord Jim. And all the students of Literature are supposed to read this unreadable novel even though it's not in the curriculum. It's compulsory to know certain books.

Anyhow, the movie just did average at the box office. Although it was nominated for a couple of awards, but it failed to win any. The cast was pretty huge & good. They all acted well. I would say it's a must watch, if you haven't seen it.

It's really funny when Shatrughan Sinha while playing cards says 'teesray badshah hum hain' & picks up all the money & leaves.

Coming back to the song, Shashi Kapoor looks so very cute. I think he is one the most cutest things on this planet. Actually today I woke up & I was thinking about this song.

And yeah I have been trying to explain this all my life:P

'Woh husn kay jalway hon yeh ishq ki awaazen
Azad parindon ki rukti nahin parvaazen.'

But people just don't seem to get it. Some people are like birds & they can't help it.

And I loved it even more when he says: 'Bhari rahay gi rahahguzar, jo hum gaye tou kuch nahin!'

I also liked these lines:

'Jaatay huay rahi kay saaye se simatana kya
Eik pal kay musafir kay daman say lipatana kya.'

But the important thing is: Jo hum gaye tou kuch nahin :P

I think if you want to live your life to the fullest, then this is how it ought to be:
'Eik rasta hai zindagi, jo tham gaye tou kuch nahin
Ye qadam kisi muqaam pay jo tham gaye tou kuch nahin.'

Anyhow I hope you enjoy the song.

Kaho Kaisay Rasta Bhool Gaye – Bade Dil Wala

This is a sweet, fun song. Rishi Kapoor looks so cute.

Even the title song of Bade Dil Wala is awesome but the movie is just okay. Tina Munim, unfortunately couldn't act for a single second in any film. Even though she had an affair with Rajesh Khanna but he couldn't teach her a thing or two about acting. However, both Rishi Kapoor & Tina Munim looked nice together.

Ramaiya Vastavaiya – Shree 420

Very realistic song! Deep & sad! And Mukesh, Rafi & Lata have done a good job.

Shree 420 was released in the year 1955 & it was also directed & produced by Raj Kapoor. Mera Jhoota Hai Japani became very popular in those days. I also liked the song Pyaar hua ikrar hua, cause Manna Dey has sung it but Mur Mur kay na dekh was funny cause they keep turning their heads in the entire song & actress Nadira looked very irritating & cunning in the song.

Btw, this movie was very popular in Russia & Romania.

I think Mukesh got the best stanza & you know I love these lines:

'Rasta wohee aur musafir wohee
Eik taara na jaane kahan chhupp gaya
Duniya wohee duniya walay wohee
Koi kya jaane kis ka jahan loot gaya.'

Nobody cares what you've lost & nobody gets to know how much you're suffering. Sometimes your entire world is shattered & no one is even aware of it. What's gone is gone.

Nargis was as usual crying. All I remember is that Nargis was invariably crying in every movie. She looked sad 24/7. I think you can't ever forget true love. 'Pyaar kar kay bhulana na aaya hamein' however is well said. In fact, you realize the depth of your feelings once you get to know it & what a terrible revelation this must be! However, I believe all those who have truly loved are very lucky folks. It's really like seeing ghost. People just talk about it & they don't really know as to what is true love.

I also like this stanza:

'Naino mein thi pyaar ki roshani
Teri ankhon mein yeh duniya daari na thi
Tu aur tha, tera dil aur tha
Teray mann mein yeh mitthi kataari na thi'

And this line says it all:
'Main jo dukh paun tou kya, aaj pachhataaun tou kya.' Even today we have the same problems. We get to know the solutions through movies, books, songs etc but some people only get regret in the end. Be true yourself. You can't feel this way again & again.

Sawan Ka Mahina - Milan

What a beautiful song! And India had such brilliant artists such as Mukesh, Rafi, Kishore & Manna Dey. They were assets. You listen to them & you're lost in a beautiful world.

Milan was released in 1967 & this movie is based on re-incarnation. I'd recommend it. I really had a good time watching it. Plus both Nutan & Sunil Dutt are my favourites. The only person I didn't like was Jamuna. Her character was irritating but she got Filmfare best supporting actress award for her role. Maybe if I see it now I might like Jamuna. After all, she makes a huge sacrifice for her love. Pran was as usual a meanie. Even Nutan received best actress award but it was well deserved. Moreover, Laxmikant Pyarelal also got award for best music director. All the songs of Milan are awesome. And I love the song 'Main tou deewana.' It's a very sad song but it touches your heart. Actually Milan was a remake of Telugu movie Mooga Manasula.

I give 101 % to Mukesh for making this song timeless. I'm not being biased. You know it's his voice that has more weight.

I like these lines:

'Maujhwa kare kya jaane, humko ishaara
Jaana kahan hai poochhe nadiyaa ki dhaara.'

And it's sweet when she says: 'Marzi hai tumhari lay jaao jis or!'

I've always loved how Mukesh says: ' Jiyara re jhoome aise banmaa naache mor.'

I like Sunil Dutt, cause he seemed like a gentleman. There was something about him. He seemed a very good human. Plus both Sunil Dutt & Nutan looked too sharif & I love such couples.

Yeh Raat Bheegi Bheegi - Chori Chori [1956]

I just couldn't believe it that up til now I haven't posted a single song of Manna Dey. The other singer is Lata. She sounded very different in her early days. Btw, Chori Chori is fun to watch. It has been inspired by It Happened One Night.

These lines are of course very touching:

'Aisay mein kahin kya koi nahin
Bhoole say jo hum ko yaad kare
Eik halki si muskaan pay jo
Sapnon ka jaan aabaad kare.'

And just in case if you haven't seen the moon tonight, it looks really nice.

Ai Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahaan - CID

Needless to say, I love this song. One of the reasons is that Rafi has sung it & other thing is that I really like the lyrics.

But Johnny Walker was so skinny.

I guess it's not so in Mumbai. It's everywhere:
'Milta hai yahan sab kuch, eik milta nahin dil'
And now I guess you don't find it even if you search the entire world. Maybe in 1960s, the situation wasn't that bad.

Even these lines are very, very true:
'Beghar ko awaara yahan kehetay hans hans
Khud kaate gale sab kay kahe is ko business
Eik cheez kay hain kai naam yahan!'

Anyone who's a little different...not as selfish & made up will still be singing:
'Ai dil hai mushkil jeena yahan' :P

I don't like the lines of Geeta Dutt.

Daroo Ki Botal Mein – Majboor

I saw Majboor long time ago & I barely remember the story, but this song was so hilarious that it's difficult to get it out of your head.

They have created a typical Christian scenario...it reminded me of my school days.

But I couldn't understand the lyrics myself & no this is not my favourite song, but it's fun to listen to it after a long time.

Majboor was released in 1974. Amitabh had brain tumor in it but he doesn't die.

However, the other songs are really good, particularly Admi jo kehta hai...it's really very meaningful.

O Haseena Zulfonwali Jaane Jahan – Teesri Mazil

I just couldn't help posting another song of Teesri Manzil.

It has got beautiful lyrics & both Asha & Rafi have made it a timeless song. Moreover, the performance by Shammi Kapoor is brilliant. He is so full of life. I didn't like Helen that much in this song. I don't know why.

My favourite line is:

'Ishq hoon mein kahin theharta hee nahin!'

People often complain but how can anyone help it. Can you do anything about your nature? :P Such people are actually very sincere & they won't leave a single thing in worshiping the right way but they can't wait for ever. Such is nature.

I also like it when he says: 'Meri badnamiyon ka wafa naam hai.'

O Mere Sona Re Sona- Teesri Manzil (1966)

This is a really cute song, which is sung by Asha Bhosle & Muhammad Rafi.

Teesri Manzil is a murder mystery & it was a box office hit in 1966. Indiatimes Movies has ranked it amongst 25 top must see Bollywood movies.

During the filming, Shammi Kapoor's wife died & it was the last time Rafi sang all the songs for Nasir Hussain. Although Rafi had a beautiful voice...in spite of that, he was sidelined by his own people.

About the song, one can say...it's better late than never.

'Maine tujhay zara der mein jana
Hua kasoor khafa mat hona!'

Her sister was murdered & in such situations, it could happen.

This is so true. I think men over the entire world behave in this manner:

'O miya humsay na chipao
Woh banaavat ki saari adayen liye
Kay tum is pay ho itharatey
Kay main peechay hoon sau iltiyan liye.'

However, this can be a bit annoying, if someone persists: 'Kay main bhi saath rahungi raho gay jahan!'

However, I like these lines:

'Ye saaza tum bhool na jana
Pyaar ko thokar mat lagana
Kay chala jaunga phir main na jaane kahan!'

O Deewano Dil Sambhalo – The Great Gambler

This clip is a bit longer but you're gonna enjoy it, if you have some sense of humor. I really like it when that idiotic guy says 'mangta hai tou bolo!'

Prem Chopra happens to be the fiance of Zeenat Aman. However, Zeenat Aman doesn't look that ab fab in this song but I've posted it cause I really loved this song in my childhood. I kind of still like it. But I'm amazed that no one ever mentions this song. It's a sexy track...at least in my opinion. Aur kya baat hai: 'Tum na mano aag pani mein laganay ayi hoon main!'

Rakkasha Mera Naam – The Great Gambler

This is, by all means, not my favourite song but I'm posting it just to prove my point - Zeenat Aman had a very sexy figure. You know when I read about the best beach body of all times, most of the women mentioned in the list looked nothing short of heavy weight champions in bikinis. In fact Marilyn Monroe who topped the list herself didn't always look that sexy or great. Even though Marilyn Monroe is one of my favourites & yeah she's the most sexiest woman ever but there's something about Zeenat Aman. I believe women to this day are jealous of her. It doesn't matter whether people agree with me or not, but I think she was better than many heroines in Hollywood or even Bollywood today.

Amitabh looks damn out of control again in this song. I can't say anything about the lyrics, cause I haven't paid much attention. But that Habibi, marhaba, dilruba thing is funny. But 'Aye sahib sab ko salam' is very catchy.

Rothe Hue Aate Hai Sab - Muqaddar Ka Sikandar

A very touching song! And as usual it's beautifully sung by Kishore Kumar.

I won't go into details of any kind today. I'll just write my favourite lines:

'Zindagi tou bewafa hai, eik din thukaraaegii

Maut mehbooba hai, apnay saath lay kar jaegii

Mar kay jeenay ki ada jo duniya ko sikhalaega

Woh muqaddar ka Sikander jaanemann kalalaaega.'

I guess you're born with that quality...you can't work on it. 'Mar kay jeena ki ada' tou bohat kaam logon mein hoti hogi. As it is, most of the people are already dead & they don't even know it.

Do Lafzon ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani – The Great Gambler

This is another beautiful song. However, The Great Gambler flopped at the box office even though big names were involved. Amitabh Bachchan played double role. One of the heroines was Zeenat Aman & the other was Neetu Singh. R.D. Burman was the music director & this song was sung by none other than Asha Bhosle.

I think 'is zindagi kay din kitnay kam hain, kitni hain khushian aur kitnay ghum hain' says everything about life. The other line that I liked is: 'dil ki bataon ka mtalab na poochho, kuch aur hum say bas ab na poochho.' However, Amitabh seems very out of control. Maybe that's the kind of effect Zeenat Aman has one men :P Whether people agree with me or not, I would still say that Zeenat Aman is one of the most sexiest women.

Teri Deewani - Kailash Kher

Sorry but I'm in love with every song I post here otherwise why would I.

About this song I must say this is what genuine love is all about. Those who have experienced this kind of love, I'd call them very lucky.

'Teray naam say jee loon, teray naam say mar jaaun,
Teray jaan kay sadke mein kuch aisa kar jaaun.'

How beautiful! Maybe it's possible...genuine love can never be greedy. It won't ever weigh the benefits. It doesn't care about the cost. True love is also like a religion.

And I love these lines:

'Ishq junoon jab hadd say barh jaaye
Hastay hastay aashiq suli charh jaaye
Ishq ka jadu sar charh kar bolay
Khoob laga lo pehre raste rab khole
Yahi ishq di marzi hai
Yahi rab di marzi hai
Teray bin jeena kaisa
Haan Khudgarzi hai.'

Maybe if it's true love...really truly God helps you. And you can't hide it either. He's very right:

Mohay sudh budh na rahi tan mann ki
Yeh tou janay duniya saari
Bebas aur laachar phiru main.'

I love it how he says 'Haari main dil haari!'

Unfortunately I've never felt this strongly about anyone. Lucky are the people who feel so.
This song is for all those who have loved in the real sense of the word.

Abhi Zinda Hoon Tou Jee Lene Do – Naajayaz

This is indeed a timeless song. No wonder it was a big hit in 1995 & even to this day, the song is very popular in India. It was sung by Kumar Sanu & Roop Kumar Rathod. And Naseerudin Shah gave wonderful expressions. The movie Naajayaz itself was also a blockbuster.

It's got very deep, meaningful lyrics. You just can't say anything about the poetic depth...what if you make a mistake! This is by far the most beautiful rain song, cause you see reality in it.

Again it's very, very difficult to choose the best lines. First of all, I love the main stanza. It starts off beautifully:

'Barsaat kay mausam mein, tanhai kay alam mein,
Main ghar say nikal aaya, bootal bhi utha laya.'

There's so much truth in this:

'Abhi zinda hoon tou jee lene do
Bhari barsaat mein pee lene do.'

People just don't let you live with peace. They have issues with everything...your choices are far more important to them. They have to interfere even when it's none of their business but you can't make them see all this...they'd continue to be the nuisance they are.

I love this line: 'Mujhay tukron mein nahin jee na hai,
Katra katra tou nahin pee na hai.'

And I don't know what is there so difficult to understand about this.

'Maikadoon mein tou piya karta hoon, chalti rahon mein bhi pee lene do.'
I think 'chalti rahon mein' it's going to be more fun. You do anything that's a little different from the god-damn norms & rules (that we are supposed to follow) is sure fun.

So much depth is in the line: 'Aag say aag bhujay gi dil ki, mujhay yeh aag bhi pee lene do.'
However, I think it's unfair that courageous individuals are the only ones who are supposed to do the impossible & make it better for others.

Piya Tu Ab Tou Aaja – Caravan

What a sexy song! You know this song is considered to be one of the best songs ever sung by Asha Bhosle. Moreover, the sound track of the film is also one of hit compositions by R. D. Burman. In fact the movie Caravan was also a hit at the box office. It was released in 1971. I think Jeetendra & Asha Parekh were unusual couple. I really liked them.

I think even now Helen looks thousand times better than the new item girls. She had style. She had a cute face. She was really sexy. Even when she danced, she looked better than many celebrities.

My favourite line is of course: 'Woh aa gaya dekho woh agaya!' Honestly I'm not lying :P I was quite fascinated as a kid when the guy said: 'Monica O my darling!' But I really don't like this man in the video...In fact I've never liked him. Helen looked too sexy & he seems more like her servant.

But this line is debatable I guess: 'Tan ki jwaala thandi ho jaaye, aise gale laga jaa.' I think they take so long to come to you that you're not interested in that kind of a hug or even something more. Eruption of any kind never lasts forever!

TalaTum TalaTum- Aitraaz

Although Aitraaz was inspired by Hollywood movie Disclosure but they have managed to pull it off in a much better way. Priyanka Chopra even got Filmfare Best Villain Award for her performance & beyond any doubt, it came naturally to her...indeed it was a superb performance. We all loved it when she said: 'Kya lo gay, kuch thanda or something hot!' However, she commits suicide in the end, which somehow doesn't go. She was quite a mean character. Why would she commit suicide? She felt so humiliated that she ends her life. All along she was running after money & name, & then she commits suicide, cause she couldn't play the game anymore.

Kareena Kapoor as usual looks very pretty & she was a very supportive & understanding wife. I think very lucky people have such understanding spouses.

Akshay Kumar was of course loyal to his wife but it's funny how men become uncomfortable when they see their ex girlfriends...particularly when they are with their wives. He has given fabulous expressions.

Talatum means storm in the sea...when I heard this song for the 1st time, I didn't like it...you know talatum, talatum sounded very irritating. But after a while, I did fall in love with it.

My favourite lines:
'Sacha dil mein agar pyaar ho, kashti tufano say par ho,
Maujay aati rahe, maujay jati rahe,
Ho kay woh beasar, chaut khati rahe.'
So you should never fuck with people who are genuinely in love with each other. True love is very powerful.
