Iss Mod Se Jate Hain – Aandhi

Truly classic song! The movie also rocked. Everyone says it's based on the life of Indira Gandhi but it's not so. This movie was basically inspired by politician Tarkeshwari Sinha. Sanjeev Kumar won the award for best actor & it even received best film critic award. It was directed by Gulzar. This film is phenomenal. Although Suchitra was nominated for the best actress but unfortunately she didn't receive it but I think she deserved it.

I also like the song 'Tere bina zindagi say sikhwa nahin.'

About this song...I just love the lyrics.

'Aandhi ki tarah koi ur kay eik rah guzarti hai
sharmati huyi koi kadmo say utarti hai
in reshmi raho mein eik rah tou woh hogi
tum tak jo pahonchti hai is morh say jati hai.'
How beautiful!

Even these lines are mind-blowing: 'Eik door say aati hai pass aa kay palati hai
Eik rah akeli si rukhti hai na chalti hai!'

Baghon Mein Bahar Hai– Aradhana

This is actually a very cute song & the reason why I'm posting another song from the same movie is of course Rafi sahab. He's got such a beautiful, soft & sweet voice that you just can't ignore.

Although Farida Jalal was healthy, but she looked cute. Even now she looks extremely cute & sweet. And Rajesh Khanna looked awesome in Aradhana.Insaan literally behak jata hai when you look at him!

Husn Hazir Hai Mohabbat Ki Saaza Paane Ko – Laila Majnu

Another beautiful track! And Lata jee has done a great job.

Laila Majno was released in 1976 but I haven't seen it. But I like two songs from the movie. One is of course 'Husn hazir hai' & the other one is 'Is reshmi paazzeb ki jhankar.'

I love this stanza:
'Pattharon ko bhi wafa phool bana sakti hai
Yeh tamasha bhi sar-e-aam dikha sakti hai
Lo ab pathar uthaoo
Zamane kay khudaon
Tumhe main aazamaao
Mujhay tum aazamaao
Ab dua arsh pay
Jaati hai asar laane ko.'

Of course it may seem funny when we say things like 'koi patthar say na maare mera deewane ko' & 'main taiyar hoon mit jaane ko'but this is true love. They faced innumerable obstacles. How many people can face all that & still don't abandon the person? I've met such irritating females talking about love 24/7 but God knows whether it's love or sex or just plain lust.

And the world would remain the same when they see a victim anywhere in any situation; they remain merciless as ever:
'Kyun chalay aaye ho bebas pay sitam dhaane ko.'

But there is so much pain, depth & truth in this particular line: 'Lo ab patthar uthaao zamane kay khudaon.' They are ever ready to lynch the one who is sincere. They can't stand a person who is truly loyal to another human. They make sure that he/she gets out of the picture.

Hum Ne Sanam Ko Khat Likha – Sakhti

What a beautiful song! Although we heard it in childhood, yet we made the same mistake as everyone does.

I don't know why did we miss the point: 'Lifafe kay liye lekin patay ki bhi zaroorat hai!'

Brilliant movie! Very cool cast! Great music!
Everything about this movie is excellent. Even the villain had class. And of course the best thing about the movie is Dilip Kumar. Raakhee Gulzar looked very nice with him. They made a very cute couple. Even Amitabh & Smita Patel looked cool.

This was directed by Ramesh Sippy & it was released in 1982. It just did average at the box office but it has been regarded as one of the best works of Ramesh Sippy & to this day, the film is considered one of the greatest flicks in the history of film industry. Moreover, it's the only movie in which Amitabh & Dilip Kumar have worked together.

I loved the dialogue when Dilip Kumar says to his son: Mujhay yeh afsoos nahin hai kay tum nay meray saath badtameezi ki. Par yeh afsoos hai kay tumhari soch kitni ghatia aur ghalat hai.

His dialogue delivery is so that one gets mesmerized every time.

Amitabh is looking very beautiful in this song. And Lata has sung it beautifully.

What a pity people don't write letters anymore :P

Anyhow, I don't know if this is the height of stupidity, cause I've done it & others have done it too...
'Hum ne sanam ko khat likha
Khat mein likha E-dilruba, dil ki gali, shahr-e-wafa.'
And we believed in it so strongly. Naturally we went through the next inevitable step:

'Barson jawab-e-yaar ka, dekha kiye hum raasta
Eik din woh khat wapis mila
Aur dakiye nay yeh kaha
Is daakh khane mein nahin, saare zamane mein nahin
Koi sanam is naam ka, koi gali is naam ki,
Koi shaher is naam ka.'

At least the woman in this song knew one thing: 'Humain bas yeh pata hai woh bohat khoobsurat hai.' The rest of us were even purblind.

Mohabbat Baray Kaam Ki Cheez Hai – Trishul

A very, very cool track! And Hema Malini looks really very beautiful in this movie. And you all know how much I adore Shashi Kapoor...whatever I'd say, it won't be enough to express my love for this good-looking, cute man.

Trishul was another blockbuster & it was released in 1978. It had a huge cast & the story line was excellent. The music was also excellent. No wonder it did so well at the box office. It was also directed by Yash Chopra.

I don't know why but I've always been fascinated by the lines of Amitabh:

'Kitabon mein chhapate hain chaahat kay kissay
Haqikat ki duniya mein chaahat nahin hai
Zamane kay bazaar mein yeh woh shay hai
Kay jis ki kisi ko zarurat nahin hai
Yeh bekaar bedaam ki cheez hai.'

Indeed 'Ye bas naam hee naam ki cheez' for some people.

But I also like it when Shashi Kapoor says: 'Daavat-e-ishq dey rahi hai fazaa, aaj ho ja kisi hasin pay fida!' Par husn ki tou itni kami hai kay I don't think it's possible. Perhaps what Amitabh said has more weight. Only when I think about my pets & stray animals I'm friends with, I can say mohabbat baray kaam ki cheez hai!

Eik Rasta Hai Zindagi Jo Tham Gaye Tou Kuch Nahin – Kala Patthar

I'm madly in love with this song. It has been sung by Kishore Kumar & Lata.

Well Kala Patthar was released in 1979. It has been inspired by Chasnala mine disaster but the main plot is very similar to that of the novel Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad. But I can assure you the movie is not at all boring & a drag like Lord Jim. And all the students of Literature are supposed to read this unreadable novel even though it's not in the curriculum. It's compulsory to know certain books.

Anyhow, the movie just did average at the box office. Although it was nominated for a couple of awards, but it failed to win any. The cast was pretty huge & good. They all acted well. I would say it's a must watch, if you haven't seen it.

It's really funny when Shatrughan Sinha while playing cards says 'teesray badshah hum hain' & picks up all the money & leaves.

Coming back to the song, Shashi Kapoor looks so very cute. I think he is one the most cutest things on this planet. Actually today I woke up & I was thinking about this song.

And yeah I have been trying to explain this all my life:P

'Woh husn kay jalway hon yeh ishq ki awaazen
Azad parindon ki rukti nahin parvaazen.'

But people just don't seem to get it. Some people are like birds & they can't help it.

And I loved it even more when he says: 'Bhari rahay gi rahahguzar, jo hum gaye tou kuch nahin!'

I also liked these lines:

'Jaatay huay rahi kay saaye se simatana kya
Eik pal kay musafir kay daman say lipatana kya.'

But the important thing is: Jo hum gaye tou kuch nahin :P

I think if you want to live your life to the fullest, then this is how it ought to be:
'Eik rasta hai zindagi, jo tham gaye tou kuch nahin
Ye qadam kisi muqaam pay jo tham gaye tou kuch nahin.'

Anyhow I hope you enjoy the song.

Ramaiya Vastavaiya – Shree 420

Very realistic song! Deep & sad! And Mukesh, Rafi & Lata have done a good job.

Shree 420 was released in the year 1955 & it was also directed & produced by Raj Kapoor. Mera Jhoota Hai Japani became very popular in those days. I also liked the song Pyaar hua ikrar hua, cause Manna Dey has sung it but Mur Mur kay na dekh was funny cause they keep turning their heads in the entire song & actress Nadira looked very irritating & cunning in the song.

Btw, this movie was very popular in Russia & Romania.

I think Mukesh got the best stanza & you know I love these lines:

'Rasta wohee aur musafir wohee
Eik taara na jaane kahan chhupp gaya
Duniya wohee duniya walay wohee
Koi kya jaane kis ka jahan loot gaya.'

Nobody cares what you've lost & nobody gets to know how much you're suffering. Sometimes your entire world is shattered & no one is even aware of it. What's gone is gone.

Nargis was as usual crying. All I remember is that Nargis was invariably crying in every movie. She looked sad 24/7. I think you can't ever forget true love. 'Pyaar kar kay bhulana na aaya hamein' however is well said. In fact, you realize the depth of your feelings once you get to know it & what a terrible revelation this must be! However, I believe all those who have truly loved are very lucky folks. It's really like seeing ghost. People just talk about it & they don't really know as to what is true love.

I also like this stanza:

'Naino mein thi pyaar ki roshani
Teri ankhon mein yeh duniya daari na thi
Tu aur tha, tera dil aur tha
Teray mann mein yeh mitthi kataari na thi'

And this line says it all:
'Main jo dukh paun tou kya, aaj pachhataaun tou kya.' Even today we have the same problems. We get to know the solutions through movies, books, songs etc but some people only get regret in the end. Be true yourself. You can't feel this way again & again.

Sawan Ka Mahina - Milan

What a beautiful song! And India had such brilliant artists such as Mukesh, Rafi, Kishore & Manna Dey. They were assets. You listen to them & you're lost in a beautiful world.

Milan was released in 1967 & this movie is based on re-incarnation. I'd recommend it. I really had a good time watching it. Plus both Nutan & Sunil Dutt are my favourites. The only person I didn't like was Jamuna. Her character was irritating but she got Filmfare best supporting actress award for her role. Maybe if I see it now I might like Jamuna. After all, she makes a huge sacrifice for her love. Pran was as usual a meanie. Even Nutan received best actress award but it was well deserved. Moreover, Laxmikant Pyarelal also got award for best music director. All the songs of Milan are awesome. And I love the song 'Main tou deewana.' It's a very sad song but it touches your heart. Actually Milan was a remake of Telugu movie Mooga Manasula.

I give 101 % to Mukesh for making this song timeless. I'm not being biased. You know it's his voice that has more weight.

I like these lines:

'Maujhwa kare kya jaane, humko ishaara
Jaana kahan hai poochhe nadiyaa ki dhaara.'

And it's sweet when she says: 'Marzi hai tumhari lay jaao jis or!'

I've always loved how Mukesh says: ' Jiyara re jhoome aise banmaa naache mor.'

I like Sunil Dutt, cause he seemed like a gentleman. There was something about him. He seemed a very good human. Plus both Sunil Dutt & Nutan looked too sharif & I love such couples.

Jiska Mujhe Tha Intezaar - Don

I think I like almost all the songs of Don. This has been sung by Kishore & Lata. And Zeenat Aman looks damn sexy. You know I think she's even better than the ladies in Hollywood. That's what is known as sexy figure. Unlike many, she never seemed heavy weight champion or something. She always looked like a beautiful, sexy woman & I believe all those who bitch about Zeenat Aman are actually jealous of her.

Very, very tough on me to choose the best lines. You know as usual I also love this song. As it is, it starts off very nicely.

But of course this particular line has a lot of weight & I believe in the 2nd line very strongly:
'Kaatil meri nazron say bach kay kahan jaaye ga
Diya hai jo mujh ko woh hee tou mujh say paaye ga.'

I also like it when Kishore Kumar says 'jaana tu nay abhi yeh kahan jaana hai.'

And I love this one:
'Hoga tera aashiq zamana
Auron ka dil hoga tera nishaana
Naaz na kar yun teer-e-nazar pay
Aaye humein bhi teer chalaana
Jo hain khilaari unhe khel hum dikhaanegay
Apnay hee jaal mein shikari pass jaayengay.'

Really it's the most amusing thing when you play a better game than all the ones who thought they know it all...Sahi baat hai na!

And I'm telling you'd really enjoy if you read these line in this manner:

'Jo hain khalari unhe khel hum dikhaanegay
Apnay hee jaal mein shikari pass jaayengay.'

'Jaana tu nay abhi yeh kahan jaana hai.'

'Waqt aanay pay tujh ko yeh samjhana hai
Kisi jeena hai aur kisko maar jaana hai.'

And last but not least:
'Diya hai jo mujh ko woh hee tou mujh say paaye ga.'

Pyaar Zindagi Hai - Muqaddar Ka Sikandar

This clip is much, much longer but it's sure fun to watch. Mudqaddar Ka Sikander was one of the biggest hits. In fact it was a blockbuster in 1978. But it's funny when Amjad Khan was dying, he became all too friendly with Amitabh & just a minute ago, they were enemies. I just find the plot okay. The music is mind-blowing. Other songs are even better.

Pyaar say pyaar karo, yeh umer pyar ki hai,
Pyaar bina kya jeena, yeh bhi koi zindagi hai!

Well said! What else can one say except that you have the right to fall in love at any age! Actually it's how Amitabh gets jealous, which is amazing. Love is really a strange kind of thing. One turns green just like that. In this situation, his friend was in love with the woman (Raakhee) Amitabh has loved all his life. Even when it's just a crush, it's embarrassing how we get jealous just because the person is talking to some other woman & you know itna husn ki kami hoti un auraton mein...In spite of that, we turn green. That's bad.

Satyam Shivam Sundaram

Uff I've loved this song ever since I was a kid & I'm gonna love it even on my death-bed.

Lata jee has a very beautiful voice & I just go on listening to this song. What beautiful lyrics! Plus I liked both Shashi Kapoor & Zeenat Aman. It has a beautiful story & the message is even more beautiful - Sach hee khoobsurat hai. Well Raj Kapoor produced amazing movies though. He really had a broad vision. He did understand the problems of women.

It's a bit difficult song to understand. I have been listening to it for almost 30 years.

"Ishwar satya hai
Satya hee shiv hai
Shiv hee sundar hai."

Basically this song is all about truth being beautiful since God is truth, then truth ought to beautiful. In the song, she's asking God to have mercy on people & people should become one in the sense that they start caring about each other.

Zeenat Aman had an accident when she was just five year old & half of her face was scarred. She was a very good human but right from the day she was born, she was regarded manhoos as her mom died on the same day.

You have to ignore that she's practically wearing nothing in the movie :P The story line is pretty deep. You need to get over your excitement.

The character of Shashi Kapoor was an admirer of beauty; in fact, he couldn't stand ugliness of any kind whatsoever. It's a superb movie. A must watch!
