O Holi Aayee Holi Aayee Dekho Holi Aayee - Mashaal

This song's for all our Indian readers, & all my nice Indian pals, & of course my relatives in India.


I've never played Holi in my entire life. In fact I've never even visited my relatives over there. But what I really like about Indians is their simplicity. It's a totally different experience when I meet one of my relations from India...they are simple & fun to be with. This is not how I feel when I meet my other relatives in Pakistan, England & America.


Anyway, this song has been one of my favourites. Dilip Kumar looks so cute. When I was a kid, I didn't like the line: 'Tum ho tou har raat diwali har din meri holi hai.' But later on, I realized it was the most cutest thing about the song.


Anyhow, hope you all enjoy your day!

Zindagi Aa Raha Hoon Main – Mashaal

This is my all time favourite movie. Just loved Dilip Kumar in it & how one incident changes him. Classic actor!

It was released in 1984 & Kamal Hasan declined the role that went to Anil Kapoor & I'm glad he turned down the offer, cause Anil Kapoor was just the right person for that character. I don't think Kamal Hasan can ever look that cute.

Zindagi aa raha hoon main is a very positive approach towards life. In fact it makes you larger than life somehow.

Anyway, I like these lines:
'Mere haathon ki garami se, pighal jaayengi zanjiren
Mere kadamo ki aahat se, badal jaayengi taqadiren.'

Not a bad thing to believe in! When I was a kid, I thought I could actually make that kind of a change. And somehow I saw myself in the character of Dilip Kumar. You can only change in that way if there is an equal amount of goodness & badness in your nature. You don't become wicked just like that...it must have been there all along. It's not that conscience doesn't prick anymore. It happens when you kill it yourself. And how his wife died...that incident was bound to trigger this sort of reaction. Good humans are actually dangerous humans, to be precise.

Woh Apni Yaad Dilane Ko Eik Ishq ki duniya Chor Gaye – Jugnu

This is such a fun song. Dilip Kumar looks extremely janoo in it. In fact in the entire movie, he looked beautiful, which was inevitable as his heroine was an aunty named Noor Jehan. Just like Rakhee Gulzar, even Noor Jehan never looked young. However in this song, you could see Rafi sahab. They have created the right sort of atmosphere. Each guy has a different personality. This song rocks to this day!

Btw, Jugnu was released in 1947 & it was produced & directed by Noor Jehan's husband Shaukat Hussain Rizvi. This film was the first major hit of Dilip Kumar.

Well I've always liked these lines:
'Muflis thay Janab-e-Majno bhi, suntay hain jab un ki maut ayi,
Paaket say na nikli eik payee, Laila ka woh khutta chor gaye. '

Hum Ne Sanam Ko Khat Likha – Sakhti

What a beautiful song! Although we heard it in childhood, yet we made the same mistake as everyone does.

I don't know why did we miss the point: 'Lifafe kay liye lekin patay ki bhi zaroorat hai!'

Brilliant movie! Very cool cast! Great music!
Everything about this movie is excellent. Even the villain had class. And of course the best thing about the movie is Dilip Kumar. Raakhee Gulzar looked very nice with him. They made a very cute couple. Even Amitabh & Smita Patel looked cool.

This was directed by Ramesh Sippy & it was released in 1982. It just did average at the box office but it has been regarded as one of the best works of Ramesh Sippy & to this day, the film is considered one of the greatest flicks in the history of film industry. Moreover, it's the only movie in which Amitabh & Dilip Kumar have worked together.

I loved the dialogue when Dilip Kumar says to his son: Mujhay yeh afsoos nahin hai kay tum nay meray saath badtameezi ki. Par yeh afsoos hai kay tumhari soch kitni ghatia aur ghalat hai.

His dialogue delivery is so that one gets mesmerized every time.

Amitabh is looking very beautiful in this song. And Lata has sung it beautifully.

What a pity people don't write letters anymore :P

Anyhow, I don't know if this is the height of stupidity, cause I've done it & others have done it too...
'Hum ne sanam ko khat likha
Khat mein likha E-dilruba, dil ki gali, shahr-e-wafa.'
And we believed in it so strongly. Naturally we went through the next inevitable step:

'Barson jawab-e-yaar ka, dekha kiye hum raasta
Eik din woh khat wapis mila
Aur dakiye nay yeh kaha
Is daakh khane mein nahin, saare zamane mein nahin
Koi sanam is naam ka, koi gali is naam ki,
Koi shaher is naam ka.'

At least the woman in this song knew one thing: 'Humain bas yeh pata hai woh bohat khoobsurat hai.' The rest of us were even purblind.

Maan Mera Ehsaan - Aan

This is another wonderful song, but this clip is a bit longer. It starts off with a scene & actress Nadira will scare you with her eyes. My God she had horrifying eyes! You can't call that acting. Fine. The character had too much attitude problem but that could have been shown without putting so much emphasis on her eyes. They look so big as if she could see more than any average person :P

Dilip Kumar looks pretty handsome. He was really beautiful. He was actually also cute & naughty looking & that makes him all the more gorgeous. The horse too was beautiful. Can't say that about the heroine. It's a pretty old movie. It was released in 1952. Fans of Dilip Kumar must have seen it. Others don't have to bother.

The lyrics are beautiful. They don't make such amazing songs anymore. And I totally agree with Dilip Kumar: 'Maan mera ehsaan kay main nay tuj say kiya hai pyaar.' Honestly, that kind of love was only possible in movies & Nadira has acted badly in that scene. Although I've always heard she had class.

Jaane Kaise Kab Kahan - Shakti (1982)

Shakti is simply fantabulous in every way. This movie had a brilliant star cast, which included Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Rakhee Gulzar, Smita Patel, Amrish Puri and Kulbushan. Every character was so perfectly   sketched and performed.

Undoubtedly, Dilip Kumar steals the show big time with his natural dialogue delivery while Amitabh's character was so filled with hatred and complexes since his childhood. I personally liked the father's role much more than the son's role. But besides these two everybody else has done absolute justice to their roles.

Jaane Kaise Kab Kahan is another one of the awesome songs from Shakti sung by Lata and Kishore Kumar. A very beautiful romantic song from the good old days.

Hum Ne Sanam Ko Khat Likha - Shakti (1982)

Shakti is one of the bestest films ever created by Hindi cinema. I didn't know it was released in the same year I was born in but that is not the reason why I really like it. Shakti had a very strong story line and the cast selection couldn't be more perfect than what the film makers chose back then.

This family drama included a star studded cast : Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Rakhee Gulzar, Smita Patel, Amrish Puri and Kulbushan. The father-son duo played by Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan was simply amazing. The movie touched upon their relationship in a different light with complications created by bad timing and unusual circumstances throughout their life.

I always say that good villains are done with in India. They can't match people like Amrish Puri or Amjad Khan at all because those guys had a lot of class. Now, we have to see a bunch of losers mostly.

And moving on to this song...the lyrics and vocals are brilliants. The lyrics are simply intense and very interesting. The best part of the song is the address she mentions :P 

Suhana Safar Aur Yeh Mausam - Madhumati

Now this is an absolutely fantabulous piece of music from the good old days. I love the lyrics the vocals, the video and Dilip Kumar. Nothing can beat the cuteness of Dilip Kumar and his genuine acting style. Besides, I am a huge fan of scenic beauty and this song is all about nature's artistic work.

So here is Suhana Safar Aur Yeh Mausam Haseen from the movie Madhumati.

Salman Khan Pays Tribute To Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Dharmendra

Salman Khan's next most anticipated movie is going to be Ready, which will be released on June 3rd. This film is directed by Anees Bazmee and one of the major attractions of the movie is going to be its song 'Character Dheela'.

In this song, Salman will be seen singing with Zarine Khan. Most importantly, Salman and Zarine will be seen portraying the famous couples from history of Hindi cinema. Thus, people are waiting anxiously to see how Salman will look as he will pay tribute to the legends of yesteryears - Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Dharmendra.

As seen above, the two will be seen as Dharmendra and Hema Malini from Sholay. They will also portray Raj Kapoor and Nargis as they looked in their hit song 'Pyar hua iqrar hua' and lastly, they will play Salim and Anarkali also just like the famous jodi of Mughal-e-Azam.

Dilip Kumar Enters Guinness World Records

Dilip Kumar has made it to Guinness World Records for being the only living actor to have won the maximum number of awards. He is 88 years old. Very soon he will be interviewed by Preity Zinta in a special show produced by Guinness.

At this honorable announcement, Dilip Kumar said,

"Awards do mean a lot for any performer, writer or technician as it is the true reward for his cinematic creation. But I abhor the tendency to manipulate awards and play "yes man" to jury members."

We are very happy for Dilip Kumar for this honor and wish him more health and happiness ahead. He is truly a gem for India and the world recognizes this fact.
