Yamla Pagla Deewana - Remake

I think Sonu Nigam and the others did a fairly decent job at this remake of the original song. Unlike many biased reviews I read, I find both the old and the new versions equally entertaining. As for the Deols, I truly admire their jovial side.

It is amazing, Dharmendra looks so damn fresh and he and his sons actually look like friends here. They share an amazing on screen chemistry. For me the show stopper is always Dharmendra amongst the entire Deol clan.

Sunny Deol To Host A Stunt Based Reality Show

Sunny Deol has made a huge come back with Yamla Pagla Deewana. He has always had a loyal fan base and they accepted him beautifully even in a comedy flick.

The news is that Sunny Deol will be judging a stunt based reality show called Jaanbaaz on TV. Looking back, Sunny was perhaps the original action heroes of Bollywood and people loved him for that.

Since, there is a high demand for him these days, he took the challenge to entertain his audience on TV in something that he has always mastered - action!

After Akshay Kumar and Priyana Chopra, Sunny Deol is the third Bollywood star to host a stunt based reality show on TV.

It is good that he is doing these things. For the longest time, he was just labeled as the Sardar or the angry Punjabi man looking for justice. He needs to engage one on one with his audience to build a strong rapport with his audience. I am quite sure of one thing - whatever the show is like and however he hosts, Sunny will definitely do a better job than Shahrukh Khan who totally sucks on TV shows.

Yamla Pagla Deewana Sequel on Cards

Yup, there are strong indications that makers of ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ are looking for the right script for its sequel. Btw, Yamla Pagla Deewana has gone Dabang way at the box office.

This movie has proved to be a comeback for all the Deols. Dharmendra has completed 50 years in the Hindi film industry. Everyone thought that Sunny Deol was just an action hero, but this time he has surprised his audience with his talent. And finally Bobby Deol got a hit that he was looking for a long time.

At the same time, some so-called critics couldn’t take all those touchy scenes. I had the misfortune to go through certain review in a very rigid but renowned newspaper. I guess they don’t see what’s happening in their own country but they have immense problem if someone becomes all that cozy in India. For once they should come up with the definition of cheap or straight away call themselves hypocrites. They even think that Bobby Deol’s heroine was all plastic. I think she is cute & she can also act. They need to see women in their own country. Everyone looks the same here & that must be so not plastic.

Yamla Pagla Deewana Turned Out To Be A Jackpot For Deols

I read a very unpleasant and biased movie review for Yamla Pagla Deewana in a local paper this weekend. I saw the movie in bits but didn't find it bad from any angle. It was supposed to be a fun and dhamal movie, which it did turn out to be. I mean when one already knows it is a light, family comedy with some good old memories why does one expect it to be some sort of Devdas or My Name Is Khan. It is an irrelavant and illogical expectation. However, everybody here feels they are an expert at everything they say or write.

Anyway, the latest reports from the box office is that Yamla Pagla Deewana (YPD) has turned out to be quite a jackpot for the Deols in many years. It is also being compared to the success of Wanted by the trend it is going. Normally movies do well in the first week but then lose out, however, YPD maintained itself and is doing good business even now. Just like Wanted, YPD has been a success in single screens and not multiplexes. It is a hit amongst the masses who are loving the Deol Dhamal in the flick. Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi are the states that gave the most positive response. Mumbai, as expected didn't really give high returns.

The way YPD is going, it is now expected that the movie will touch the 60 crores mark. Sunny Deol will see such a success after many years as his last hit was Gadar that was released a decade ago. For Bobby Deol, this is the first time he would ever receive a 50 crore return in his filmy career.

I actually really found the three (Dharmendra, Bobby and Sunny) quite cute. Perhaps, I like their on screen sweet chemistry. It was really a sweet movie rather than something cheap as some people think. Also, after closely analyzing Tees Maar Khan's script, it didn't have that bad a script. It was ok. Over all, the charm is only in the Deols and that is quite obvious, if one looks at it without any biasness.

Box Office Updates: YPD Loved By Audience

The Deols have made a great come this time round with Yamla Pagla Deewana. The movie was released on  Friday, 14th Jan and has already collected around 23 crores over the weekend. It is one of the best weekend hits ever in the history of Hindi cinema. However, the movie is ruling in the Northern parts of the country but in the Southern region and Mumbai it is hardly even an average. Though, it will clearly cross the 50 crores milestone and be a clear winner and hit.

Till February no major release is going to take place. In Feb Patiala House and Tanu Weds Manu will be released. Till then, YMD has plenty of time to make its presence felt across the country if the Deols concentrate on this opportunity. But surely, Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol are quite happy that this movie is doing well. So much so, that Sunny is thinking of making its sequel since he feels these days audience is loving to watch characters again and again if they fall in love with them. The Deols will work hard on the story for a sequel with the main characters.

Turning 30 was neither liked by the masses or the so called classes even though Gul Panang really worked hard on its promotion.

On the other hand, No One Killed Jessica is being appreciated by the elites and upper classes for the kind of subject it deals with. The film is critically appreciated but in terms of revenue it has definitely fallen short of what it should have collected. Undoubtedly, actresses Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherji are recognized for their performance in this one.
