PATIALA HOUSE sees a turnaround for Akshay

Patiala House is getting very good reviews & Akshay has proved that he can do any kind of role. People just love his subtle portrayal of Gattu.

Comments a senior crew member of PATIALA HOUSE, "We all did well on the film but were still anxious to know the kind of reviews that PATIALA HOUSE would get. Since the film's promotion was controlled and the team had instead decided to let the word of mouth do all the talking, it was imperative that reviews were good. This has now happened with almost all reviews being totally positive."

Says a close associate, "It was a matter of time before Akshay showed to the world all over again that he was open to roles which pushed him beyond a comic guy. He has showed his somber side in films like EK RISHTA, JAANWAR and DHADKAN earlier on as well. Now that he has gone a step ahead in PATIALA HOUSE, it is being touted as a new facet of his acting capabilities."

Even though I haven’t seen Patiala House, but Akshay is the kind of actor who gives his best when there is nothing in the movie. Tees Maar Khan is one such example. However, Patiala House is based on a very sensitive subject. Some parents push the kids to take steps, but life sometimes gives you a second chance to do what you always wanted to do. I’m sure Akshay must be convincing as Gattu.

Patiala House To Have Many International Cricketers

By now we do know that Patiala House is a story about a conflicting relationship of a father and son. The son gives up his dream to become a cricketer due to his father's stubbornness. However,later on in life he gets a chance to make his dream come true.

The interesting part is that although cricket is just a part of the story but the makers made sure to have some well known cricketers be a part of the story in cricket scenes.

Huge line up of cricketers that would put any IPL team to shame, cricketers like Nassir Hussain, Brendon McCullun, Herschelle Gibbs, Kieron Pollard, Andrews Symonds, Kamran Akmal, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Graham Gooch, Wasim Akram and Mathew Hayden are part of the cricket matches that feature Akshay Kumar.

T Series' Bhushan Kumar confirms that Nikhil Advani was very keen that to do justice to the script. Akshay is playing for England and it is world cup that they are playing for. So it needed to have a lot of known faces to be seen with Akshay. That's when we approached these guys, send them the scripts and got them on board.

Anushka's Success In Band Baja Baarat Gets Her On Patiala House Posters

Patiala House is a movie about a father and son relationship starring Rishi Kapoor as Bauji and Akshay Kumar as Parghat aka Gattu. The story is based in Southall London where the Kahlon family has been living for the past 4 generations; ruled by an autocratic and stubborn patriarch Bauji the members of this household have no other choice but to adhere to his ways, his rules and his philosophy.

Therefore, the poster of the movie had Rishi Kapoor and Akshay Kumar depicting the same relationship which they shared in the movie. However, they saw that Anushka Shamra did great in Band Baaja Baraat and the audiences apparently loved her. So, they decided to put Anushka also on the final poster of Patiala House.

Akshay Is Learning From His Mistakes

Akshay Kumar is quite a smart man who is not ashamed of learning from the mistakes he has made in the past. In 2010 he worked on hard core comedy flicks but in 2011 he is working in serious cinema. Also, remembering how the Sikh community and Sardars became really upset and staged protest against Akshay Kumar and the makers of Singh Is King because he wore an inappropriate turban. The Sikh community got angry that he represented them in a wrong manner.

Thus, in Patiala House, Akshay made a request to his director Nikhil Advani to show his character as Mona Sardar, which means he is a sardar but one without a turban. In the original script, Akshay's role was that of a Sardar only but they made changes in the script due to Akshay's request.

They will show a scene in Patiala House in which Akshay's hair and beard will be shaved off. Akshay is seriously learning from his mistake in the past and won't repeat the same mistake again.

Insecurity haunts Anushka Sharma

Though she is no new comer in Bollywood and has done good roles in the past, but Anushka Sharma cannot help feeling insecure.

The reason: after doing three films with Yash Raj banner –Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Badmaash Company & Band Baaja Baaraat, Anusha is moving out of the secure environs of YRF with her upcoming film PATIALA HOUSE.

But, we have digged out the real story. According to our sources, "Anushka is feeling insecure after venturing out of YRF. Though Patiala House might have everything going for it, but the fact that Anushka is without any mentor or the backing of a big banner is clearly visible in the glint of her eyes. No matter how hard she tries to put a brave face, insecurity remains a reality of her present life."

Anushka might be without a godfather in her upcoming film, but the fact that her talent has guided her in the past remains her best bet this time around too.

Off late there were rumours that Hrithik Roshan's 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' had opted out of competition from Salman Khan's 'Ready' by not releasing on 27th May. However the makers have clarified that the date hasn't changed and stays on to be 27th May.

Saas & Damaad To Work In Patiala House

Akshay Kumar's first release in 2011 will be Patiala House with Anushka Sharma opposite him. The interesting thing is that Akshay will be working with his saasu jee Dimple Kapadia also in this movie. Another interesting fact is that Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia will act together also once again after some time.

Patiala House is the story of a Sikh joint family. Four generations of the Kahlon family live together, in a suburban house in London. When one first hears about this movie you connect Akshay Kumar and a large family of Sikhs living under one roof.

Patiala means big (often used to signify Patiala peg by whiskey drinkers.) In our case it signifies a fourth generation Sikh household in Southall, London, UK. A house with 22 members both young and old ruled by an autocratic and big headed Gurtej Singh Kahlon (Rishi Kapoor.) A house where the disparity in thought between the younger and older generation has reached a simmering boiling point and mutiny, rebellion is round the corner. How a 34-year-old ex cricketer who has been forced to sacrifice his dreams for his fathers ideals is given a second chance to see it getting fulfilled.
