Parda Hai Parda – Amar Akbar Anthony

Mohammad Rafi has got such a beautiful voice.

Amar Akbar Anthony was released in 1977 & it won several awards. The music was written by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Kishore Kumar sang for Amitabh & Mohammad Rafi sang for Rishi Kapoor. Btw, they are even thinking of making a re-make of Amar Akbar Anthony & that sounds more like a disaster in the making, cause Salman Khan & his two brothers will be the three brothers in the new version. What a nightmare! First of all, there's no need to make a remake & even if they are making, there are better options. Salman Khan is beautiful but he's too old now. I think Akshay Khanna, Abhishek & Ranbir Kapoor could have done it. There are also other actors such as Arjun Rampal, Hrithik Roshan & I'm sure they'd might do justice. Even Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi & Sikander Kher or Ranvir are some other options, if you want not that good-looking cast :P But I'm telling you all of them will look better than Salman Khan & his brothers. Moreover, I don't think they have anyone as pretty as Parveen Babi now. I'm not going to watch the remake at any cost.

Alright. You know I like the entire song but these lines were sang with so much passion:
'Khafa hokay chehra chupa lay,
Magar yaad rak husn wala
Jo hai aaj teri jawani,
Mera pyaar hai sard paani,
Main teray ghussay ko thanda na kar doon'

I also loved how Rishi Kapoor makes entry in the song...too cute. And his get-up is also cute.
What a pity we can't even say such things to anyone:
'Shabab pay mein zara si sharab phekunga
Kisi hasin ki taraf ye ghulab phekunga.'
No one is that beautiful but what an idea!

Amar Akbar Anthony

Nothing can match the good old classics and the title song of Amar Akbar Anthony is one of such thing. I find this song damn entertaining till this day. I love the powerful star cast as each character is so perfect for their roles. Rishi Kapoor as a Muslim singer was one of my personal favorites in this one.

Sarah Jane "I Can Speak Hindi"

Now this is something interesting - Sarah Jane Dias is telling people that although English is her first language but she can converse in Hindi. She said she even took diction classes for her debut film "Game".

Well, I believe she loves to talk and you can see how she goes on about the languages she knows:

"See, I have studied Hindi all my life; it has been a subject during my school days. However since I speak English so confidently, many people tend to think that it is the only language that I am comfortable with. Yes, I had moved to Muscat when I was quite young and came back to India for my college days. However the fact remains that I am inherently a Mumbai girl"

While her diction classes are continuing till date, it was during the preparation for her part in 'Game' that she had Shabana Azmi as a mentor for some instant results.

"Yes, she was a great help with the language and that further made me confident that I could deliver the goods", smiles Sarah, "I try speaking to people as much as possible in Hindi and ask them to correct me wherever I go wrong. In fact now that I am a part of the industry, I don't wish anything that is not as per perfection."

There is something about her that I am not liking much ... even in the promos of her movie...all we noticed were the red heels...she was that impressive you see. As it is it is working in a Hindi movies requires someone to know the language at least. I can't really get how Katrina Kaif still can't get Hindi words and she has been in Hindi cinema fraternity for quite sometime. These girls need to go beyond languages now.

I think Shabana Azmi seems more like a witch in this get up. What cunning expressions she has in every pic!

Btw, Shobha De was her senior in college.

Moreover, I’ve observed that Shabana Azmi really wanted some praise from both Shobha De & Naseerudin Shah. We all know that Shobha De has only good words for her friends & their kids & please bear in mind they all happen to be big shot.

Anyway, I liked Shabana Azmi in Masoom & for a long time, just like Rani, she was one of my favorites till I noticed that people all over the world pretend to be something else.

And the last pic makes me guilty...it has dark aura around it & it says, 'Don't you love me anymore?'

Hrithik, Ranbir, Ranveer, Anushka to come together

It's gonna be one big night. Shabana Azmi and her godchild Namrata Goyal have once again put together a fundraising fashion show, "MIJWAN-Sonnets in Fabric, A fashion show with a difference"-a fundraiser for MWS founded by Kaifi Azmi for the empowerment of the girl child in rural India.

The actors participating in alphabetical order include Aditya Roy Kapur, Amrita Rao, Anushka Sharma, Celina Jaitley, Dia Mirza, Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Kunal Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandes, Lara Dutta, Monikangana, Neha Dhupia, Prateik Babbar, Raima Sen, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Rohit Roy, Sameera Reddy, Sandhya Mridul, Shilpa Shetty, Sushmita Sen, Shazahn Padamsee and Tusshar Kapoor.

Says Hrithik Roshan, "I am very happy to lend support to Mijwan Welfare Society that seeks to empower the girlchild in rural India. Kaifi Saheb who founded the NGO has worked with my grandfather Roshan Saheb, Shabana aunty has been a school friend of my dad. I'm working with Zoya so it's really a relationship spanning three generations. But even more importantly I believe that when I support a cause I get enriched by the experience because it sensitises me to the plight of those less priveleged..for a mere Rs 6000, a girlchild in Mijwan can get through school for a whole year!We blow up 10 times that amount at a restaurant in one night!"

Adds Ranbir Kapoor, "India is an idea whose time has come! 50 percent of India is under the age of 25 years. This is our greatest resource base. All over the world change has been spearheaded by the youth. We, the young people of India need to turn our attention towards rural India where 80 percent of the population lives with a focus on empowering the girlchild. By associating with Mijwan Welfare Society an NGO founded by the extraordinary poet lyricist Kaifi Azmi I am paying my tribute to a rare poet who practised what he preached 'Pyar ka jashn nai tarha manana hoga Gam kisi dil mein sahi Gam ko mitana hoga'."

Says Shabana Azmi, "Last year the phenomenal success of Mijwan Sonnets in Fabric where 22 filmstars like Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai came forward for my NGO Mijwan Welfare Society's benefit has snowballed into an even bigger fund raiser this year. Mijwan is a tiny village in UP where my father Kaifi Azmi was born. He founded the NGO and I have taken on the task of taking his dream forward. MWS runs Kaifi Azmi High School for girls, Kaifi Azmi inter college for girls, Kaifi Azmi computer training centre, Kaifi Azmi sewing and tailoring centre."
